Me & My Practice
Here’s the lowdown on yours truly:
My style of therapy is a bit different from others. First off I'll be honest about my real motivation to be a therapist (something we're not supposed to do). I had a really crappy therapist when I was younger. I mean, really crappy. I swore to myself that I'd do everything I could to make sure that didn't happen to anyone else.
And that's exactly what I did. I went to school. A lot of school. I know what it’s like to see a therapist who talks down to you, patronizes you with sappy lies, and who doesn’t really put in any effort. I remember the ones who literally spoke in the same monotone voice for the entire hour. Boring! Let’s not do any of that, K?
Instead bring your ideas, dreams, fears, anger, and everything else that comes up with you. Be yourself and know that I’ll do the same. I’m going to call you out when you don’t because my job is to help you feel comfortable and eventually love the person you are when you’re just you.
Will the change YOU seek happen easily or overnight? Of course not. I’m here to work hard though and expect you to do the same. Results only happen if we try our hardest and stay transparent. When it’s just “one of those days”, be honest. We all have them and I don’t expect you to be the perfect client. I only ask that you are authentic and unapologetic for who you are right now.
I may have 4 degrees and a long professional history that qualifies me to do this, but at the end of the day YOU are the only expert on you. So show me the way and I’ll be right there with you.
I can’t know exactly what it’s like to walk in your shoes, but I have a comfortable pair that wear well because of the rough roads I’ve already traveled. It takes ones to even start to know one and I will happily refer you to someone else if I believe there is an individual that will better understand your perspective. That’s what good therapists do.
You’re ready, able, and worth it. Call or email me today.
